There is still much unknown about the relationships and adaptations of the meat eating dinosaurs, the theropods.   

All theropods stood upright and walked on two strong hind legs, with a large tail to offset the weight of the upper body.  The jaw joint allowed only an up and down slicing motion.   Terrestrial theropods ranged in size from a small dog to the 42 foot long South American dinosaur - Giganotosaurus.
